Yes!!! I couldn't believe Mom wanted to take pictures of Dad in the casket...my older brother and I were quite appalled but we did what Mom wanted anyway and stood beside the casket for a picture. When she got them developed (2 sets) I barely glanced at them when she wanted me to look at them. She sent the other set to my brother (his wife apparently asked for some).

When I was a kid, my parents had a framed picture of a baby in a casket on their bedroom wall....it was the only picture they had of my brother that lived 2 days...I was born a year and a half later.

Yes, I don't want to look back at pictures of a funeral of some one I know.... On the other hand if you were a photographer and using the funeral as the subject of your work I don't think it would be weird.

well as long as you didnt take a picture of the body.. suppose that's ok.. my father had went to a wake and he saw some of his old friends that he grew up with there and someone took pictures. just of the people who were at the wake . in that kind of situation as mentioned above, thats not disturbing

A little bit yes.At my dad's funeral, there was this women who we don't know that very well, and she was taking photo's of my Dad in his coffin.Every one was to upset to say any thing to her.About 2 weeks later she called to my mum's house to see her and to show her the photo's.My poor mum was so upset, and really angry that this women had taken photo's with out the family's consent, and she asked the lady to leave before she does some thing that she might regret.(no my mum didn't look at the photo's)I don't know what compelled that women to take photo's,and to tell you the truth,I don't want to.

My neices paternal grandmother died recently and she told me her step mother was taking pictures of her granmother in the casket. I found it a bit....sick. I never heard of anyone doing that before. Who on earth would want to remember someone laying dead in a casket? Not me.

Why does death have to be so serious?
Instead of grieving have a celebration of their life.
