The N word is *** ger and not ***** - although most Blacks think both are equally bad. Sticks and stones may break bones but words can never really hurt you. If someone is confident in who he or she is. nothing in a word can make any difference. This issue is really much ado about nothing. If people can call you names or give you a nickname without your consent and with no regard to if you like it or not, then you deal with it. So my message is to just deal with it and get on with life. I like blacks but I will not worry about which words anyone may or may not like. Just not important.

Would love to give you an answer, but I'm Canadian, and just don't understand! It shouldn't be called the United ***** College fund in the first place. That's like ..The United Caucasian College Fund.. How about calling it the United College fund for those in need? Unfortunately, the "*****" people probably named it that...
I sympathize with you..and can see why you are having difficulty with that N word.. good question..sorry I can't help.

That organization was named long ago, when that was the polite and socially acceptable term.
They decided not to change its name, as it has a long history.
However, the word '*****' is no longer (in general) acceptable, and will get you labeled racist if used today for any purpose other than referring to the UNC.
(I must admit, when recently watching Eyes on the Prize, to being shocked to hear these young Black activists referring to themselves and their cause using the word *****. It had been so long since that word was in use, several decades, in fact, making me wonder where you've been all these years.)
Hope you make it a nice, big check, as it's a worthy organization.
(If your point, however, is that you have a problem using language to refer to people that doesn't offend those people, then don't talk about them at all.)

"*****" isn't the N word that the hype is all about.
It is called "The United ***** College Fund" therefore the word "*****" is acceptable when refering to its name.
You do not, however, go up to a person and say "wassup *****". Friends, maybe..... but not to a stranger. Race should not be a form of communicating a welcome to a person. You simply say the common courtesies. "Hello", "How are you?", etc

Check what schools they donate too first, the list is very small!! They wouldn't pay for any of my daughters college because she didn't attend a historically black college. Get the facts before you donate.
PS- Mercedes is a ignorant fool, and we all know she didn't go to college, possibly dropped out of 6th grade???

No, it is not okay to use the word, "*****" in referring to black people today. Prior to the '70s, it was acceptable; however, it is best to use the term, African American, today.

I can't really speak for black people but I really don't think black people will be offended.
Mercedes, that was an ignorant and rude comment. People like you make other people think that all white people are racist, thanks.
