The only way to remove the gnats is to thoroughly clean the crabitiat. First remove the crabs and bath them in treated or distilled water. While the crabs are drying, Remove the substrate and all decorative material from the crabitat. Any wood or other permeable material should be washed and then baked. The same can be done with the substrate, but I normally would just replace it.

To prevent gnats in the future all wet food should be removed a few hours after offering and the tank humidity should be kept between 70 and 80%. While neither of these guarantee success, they will help.

i recentally had a severe gnat problem in the spring of this year. i googled and found a home remendy that worked great, no more gnats. mix 1 tsp dawn dish soap with 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and place it near ur crabitat. the gnats r attracted 2 the smell of the vinegar and jump in and drown. hope this works 4 u, sure solved my problem. good luck!

You can;t use any type of pesticide, since it'll kill the crabs... Try sticky traps for flys, attach them to the lid of your crabitat. Doing a deep clean to remove any food or feces that attract them might help.
