Jaffa cakes are absolutely perfect - two jaffa cakes at half time will release their energy over a period of almost exactly 45 minutes (assuming you're running around during that time - this won't work if your name's Kanu or Laurent Robert...). There won't be much energy left over after that, so despite the chocolate and potential for fattening they won't add any weight.
Just make sure you don't get carried away and eat the whole tube - was this where Wayne Rooney went wrong? :-)

Believe it or not it's bananas. Eat one about an hour before your training or match and it will kick in at the right time as well as lasting for 90-minutes or so. My lad plays for a football academy and his coach insists on each team member eating one before a match. Must work as they won the treble last year.

I agree bananas.

Tea with sugar is a good half-time recipe (even if it tastes grim)

Pre-match Pasta meal (slow releasing carbs) great for providing energy for the game.

Remember avoid the half-time kebab and ciggie- it doesn't help!
