My dad. He taught me so many things while I was growing up, but the three things I remember every day are:
1. Treat everyone exactly as you want to be treated.
2. That I could be anything I wanted to be.
3. To be honest in every part of my life. When you tell the truth you never have to remember how you told it.
There isn't a day that goes by that these three things he taught me aren't used. He taught me how to be an adult that takes responsibility for all my actions.

I don't know who has taught me the most, but I do know who has taught me the best lessons. Two wonderful friends of mine who have forms of mental retardation. Sarah was first, and she taught me understanding and equality. Every Sunday morning she makes her rounds at our church and gives literally everyone present, a hug; some a kiss on the cheek; and finishes her rounds with a "good morning!" She doesn't see the differences in people around her and that says a lot to me. The mentally handicapped can be some of the most "abnormal" figures, but the purest hearts. The second is Eric. I met him at church camp. His life has been a sixteen year long game of Tag. And everyone's playing. If you willingly play Tag, or catch, or any of the other games he conjures, he forever calls you his friend, and will stand up for you even when you can stand up for yourself. Eric has taught me to be bold. He doesn't let anyone tear him down. When people dare to call him retarted, or dipstick, or any of the other heartless names we so often hear, he simply smiles and says, "That's me!" It's ironic how the people who seem to be the least like us, are all the better for it.

My Dad
He was very busy working ful time, getting his PHD and raising 4 kids. I REALLY valued the time he spent with me, some each week plus family outings. He and I read the encyclopedias about half way through too. Not every word. But we discussed every entry I think. I love him anyway but also just for that attention and teaching he gave me. His students were lucky to have him too. He is ALWAYS right. I wouldn't say that about anyone else. He is VERY kind too.

Well of course my parents had a big influence on me and several school teachers too. I think though I've learned the most about life from my husband. His beliefs were so different from mine that I was able to learn so much from him. My mom died when I was 18 and I didn't see my dead too much so my husband has actually had the biggest influence on my life.

Probably my mom and myself. My mom taught me how to stand up for myself, to make my voice heard, how to watch out for myself, basically street smarts but I learned how to be book smart by myself. Since my mommy immigrated here, she's kind of illiterate but I excel in English.
