I 'm trying to find a game from when I was younger, but I can't recall the name. In the game you traveled up a mountain, and to travel you would enter differant levels, were at the end you could choose the next on. At the end of each level you could enter and shop and buy things. the only thing i can remember about the shop was that it was almost always sold out of jetpacks.

I'm not sure, but it's possible that the game you are thinkg of is "Ice Climbers." Ice Climbers was a game where you could control one or two characters and your goal every level was to get to the top of the stage.

I'm not sure if this is the right game but it's the ony NES game that I can think of that even remotely sounds similar to the game that you're asking about.
