and what is muscle memory?

I will answer in different order than you asked.
Your body "remembers" how to do things. For example, you don't have to think how to ride a bicycle if you already have the skill. You just do it without thinking. Your body knows how. This is an example of muscle memory. Your muscles work together to make it happen.

Same works for dancing - you don't have to think how to move every muscle and at what time. Your body remembers most of it.

Warm up is important because when you dance full strength, you muscle memory tells you to do pretty demanding things. For example it can tell you to fully extend your leg, and your body "remembers" what means to fully extend and tried to do just that. If your muscles are not ready for it, bad things can happen to them or to the ligaments connected to them. Cold muscle won't strecth as far as a warmed-up muscle. When you make the cold muscle stretch it pulls the ligament attached to it. There are many failure modes what can happen when you dance without a warm up, but If your muscles are not warmed up you can injure yourself, including but not limited to tearing a ligament.

Well...I'm no physical ed teacher but I have played soccer so why you need to warm up before dancing is because during your routine or free styled dancing, you don't want to suddenly get a cramp or pull a muscle while doing an activity. Sometimes strecthing can give you cramps too but it also means you're out of shape (I don't mean you)

I guess to put it simply...it prevents muscle cramps and pulls and Muscle memory...hmmm....to me it sounds like something your muscle would eventually get used to like strenous work like running and stuff. It'll get used to working so constantly in that condition that it grows stronger by becoming more uhhh I'm not sure how to say it but it just gets used to becoming used so much.

it is important to warm up before dancing because there are three stages of exercise warm up work out and the cool down and also when u warm up it releases and accelerates the flow of blood circulation. so as to stave of possible cramps. muscle memory is the common term for neuromuscular facilitation which is the process of the neuromuscular system memorizing motor skills

its important to warm up before you dance because you can pull your muscles. muscle memory is like if you warm up all the time it will be easier to dance because the muscle will be in the same place it was when you warmup last time if you warm up daily

it is importamt to warm up so you muscles are loose and limber so you don't strain something while dancing. depending on your style of dance most likely legs and back are most important. and don't forget to cool down when your done. if you streach when your done your mucles will streach out a little farther. this also gives your breathing time to get back to normal and relax from dancing.
