From Wikipedia: "The UPC barcodes found on most commercial products are characterized by guard bars at the beginning, middle and end made up of two thin lines. Two thin lines also appear in the UPC encoding for the digit 6 (and no other digit), and so to human eyes (but not to an electronic barcode reader) the guard bars appear to read 666. Some people interpret this as a fulfilment of the prophecy "Without this number an individual will not be able to buy or sell" (cited from the Book of Revelation)."

There are two types of barcodes commonly in use. One is 13 characters long and the other ten. In both the characters are numbers. Even if the bigger version is used 9 x 13 = 117 if the barcode was all 9's, the biggest number possible. So a maximum they could add in theory would be 117. However I think the last number is a check digit which would not allow all 9's.

There is a website somewhere which will generate entirely new barcodes for you.

This is not new info. Barcodes, medical, criminal and financial records are digitally stored in a small, tubelike device that is implanted in humans (verichip) just under the skin. This information is already on your national ID card, or driver's license (black magnetic strip). It is being sold under the argument that it makes buying/selling easier and faster, convenience and speed of obtaining medical information on a patient (to help save lives), finding lost or abducted people, and for overall safety. All of these are good things. However, many fundamentalists believe it is "the mark of the beast" in accordance with biblical forecasting (with all barcodes already containing the three numbers 666). Many high-security corporations have employees implanted so they can access high level security areas. The most important issue here is whether or not government will use these "chips" to control populations of people in different ways. The way I see it, is that if a government is corrupt, it will use the tools it has available to it for evil. If the government is not corrupt, then for the most part, the resources it has available will be used for good. There is a lot of hype around this, and a lot of fascination and fear. So, you gotta ask yourself the question. Do you think your government is corrupt? I urge you to find out the answers for yourself, and when you find the proof, believe it. Don't just go along with the latest trend, as mass-media programms us to do. Have fun!!

Of course not. Add one up! Add two. Usually, the bar code also bears the digital equivalent, so add the digits. Sorry, someone is trying to scare you with a silly statement. Being a Christian, I know that there are a lot of silly statements that have been told. Stick with the facts of what the Book does say, you don't need this made up stuff.

No, this is not correct. There are three bar code delimiters which are at the start, middle and end of the code and they are the bar representation of 6's. Spookey eh!

no. they are just coincidences. some people even show me barcodes that have 3 6's scattered within a barcode serial number. God bless you.

no way. a barcode is usually what...10, 15,....lets even call it 20 digits. even if they were all 9's, that would add up to 180...its just not possible.

sounds like paranoia to me, no, they don't all add up to 666, which by the way, is NOT the number of the beast. (I know most seem to think it is)

Is it possible? I ask myself rhetorically, that there are people who bring a whole new meaning to the word "gullible" and I am forced to concede that the answer is yes. However, the answer to your question is no.
