I think everyone is self-absorbed to some degree, if they're being honest. If we, as a human race weren't, we wouldn't have survived for very long at all.
The trick is to realize that it's a much more fulfilling life to turn the focus & attention outward toward others. That's when we become more interested and caring toward our family, friends, and even strangers. That's when we truly begin to live & not just survive.
