When I bought my Nano a few months ago, it came with the USB cord which is what you plug from the iPod to the computer to charge it. It comes with earbuds and soft covers to put on the earbuds. It comes with a case that you can store it in. You cannot see the screen or press buttons so I recommend buying a case seperately. It comes with a manual for instructions also. The iPod also comes with the iTunes program which you can put on your computer. This is how you get songs on your iPod. You can buy them from the iTunes music store, upload from cd's, or download from a sharing program such as limewire.
To plug your iPod into the computer, follow the instruction manual. Just put the USB cord into the computer and into the bottom of the iPod.
To put music on your iPod from cd's you have to have iTunes on your computer(to put iTunes on your computer - simply put the cd in and follow the instructions). Then open iTunes and put your CD in. After a few seconds the CD will pop up in iTunes. You can they select which songs you want to put into your iTunes library. Once they are uploaded into your library you can drag them to your iPod.
Songs from iTunes cost $0.99
To get songs from the iTunes music store. Just click on music store once in iTunes. After a few seconds of connecting it will take you to the home page. Just search what song you want and download it. You will have to have a card from the store or a credit card to get music. Also, there is a free single of each week which you can download from iTunes for free.
There is another way to get songs which is free but not exactly right. It is downloading from a sharing system such as limewire. Also there is a program called Bit Torrent or Bit Comet which you can download songs and albums from. Some say it is illegal to do but not exactly. I and many others use limewire.
To get these songs on your iPod you have to drag them from your library to your iPod. When your iPod is connected it will show up in iTunes in the different menu's. To get songs in your library simply take them from your hardrive on your computer, or from iTunes music store, or from cd's, or from a sharing program.
To charge your iPod simply plug it into your computer using the USB cord that comes in the package.
When your done charging your iPod on your computer, there is a little eject button next to where your iPod shows up(when you get the iPod this will all make sense) on iTunes. You have to hit the eject button before removing your iPod from the computer. THIS WILL ALL MAKE BETTER SENSE ONCE YOU HAVE THE IPOD AND HAVE LOOKED AT THE MANUAL.
Sorry if this is a little confusing but I hope it helped. Ipods are really a great thing. Depending on how much music you want to put on it, I would recommend the 30GB video which is $250 or if you don't need a lot of songs and want something smaller get the 4GB Nano. This holds 1000 songs and is $200 i think. The 2GB holds 500 songs and is $150.

My 1GB nano cost me about $120.00. It comes with the instruction manual, data cable from ipod to computer (this is how you charge it also) and the software for it. You load the software in and then you can start downloading. You can buy the songs from itunes, they run 99 cents a song. You can buy the songs with a credit card or buy a prepaid card from WalMart or KMart or wherever you can get them at. You can also go to third party sites, I use Limewire, you pay them a one-time $19.99 fee and you can download as much as you want.
As soon as you instiall the software, it will have you register the iPod first thing. it's rather easy to do.
I think that an iPod is great idea. For you wanting a nano, you are going to have to show some responsibility, because it WILL break easily and since it's so small, it's easy to lose. I've had mine for a while (about 4 months) and mine is in great condition because I treat it very well. I keep it in its iPod sock, charged, and keep it in good shape. I am also 27 though.
It's a good investment. I love mine. It will eliminate the need for you wanting a phone with an MP3 player on it.

I have an Ipod 80GB. It came with really good earbuds, a usb cable that connects to the bottom of the Ipod and to the computer. It also came with a case that is good because every time you slide it in there. It cleans it. Its a cool material. The case isnt for viewing the screen. its just to hold it and protect it from scratches. it also comes with a port adapter. If you buy a stereo for your ipod that will help you connect it there. it comes with a small instructions booklet and two apple stickers. the ipod itself is really cool. it hold 20,000 songs. i have 908 songs on mine, 5 videos, 45 pics and it still has a LOT of space. a got it at the apple store for $380 dollars. total. with tax and everything. its a good buy. basically, it has an internal battery and you charge it by connecting to the computer. you could do other things while charging it. the battery lasts long too.

the nano is smaller and, as you spoke of, very sexy. it is likewise flash based, that would make it somewhat greater sturdy as there is not any trickychronic to positioned on out (no moving areas). even with the undeniable fact that, purely as interior the older ipod mini, you pay so plenty greater $ in line with gb; even with the actuality that the video functionality isn't all that functional, you will spend much less time futzing along with your library (instruction manual updates, etc) with the bigger skill of the 30 gig. How vast is your library?... for the reason that greater 24 gig is ineffective in case you dont want it. I truthfully have 60gb video, yet i gotta inform you- the assumption of "donning around your dvd library" and connecting it to a much bigger demonstrate screen is crap, commonly because of the fact the low res ipod video format looks like crap whilst seen on a "popular" length demonstrate screen. p.s there's a 6gb nano interior the works, if no longer already on the industry; it rather relies upon on what you prefer to do with it, and for the money i think of the 30gb video is a greater advantageous fee (even with the actuality that larger and heavier).

the iPod itself comes with earbuds and a USB cable for connecting the pod to your computer. It doesn't come loaded with any songs. You need a copy of iTunes on your computer to get songs onto the pod. If you have a Mac you probably already have iTunes or, if you use Windows, you can download it for free from apple.com
Thru iTunes you can purchase song/albums from the iTunes store or you can get music off of your own CD's and copy them to your iPod easily.
You charge the iPod by connecting it to your computer with the included cable. I hope this helps! =)
