I was working in the lab late one night
When I heard the gurgle of a waterpipe
So I turned to see my monster in a cloud of smoke
Who said "This **** ain't bad, here, have a toke"
(We smoked some hash) - We smoked some monster hash
(Some monster hash) - It was his personal stash
(We smoked some hash) - We got completely trashed
(On monster hash) - We smoked some monster hash
As we partied in the castle with the living dead
Mouths were dry and eyes were red
The ghouls and goblins shrieked and screamed
"Won't somebody please pass the Visine"
(They smoked some hash) - They smoked some monster hash
(Some monster hash) - From Frankie's personal stash
(We smoked some hash) - And they all were smashed
(On monster hash) - They smoked some monster hash
The mummy was toking on a bong
Wolfman said "Don't bogart that, pass it along"
The swamp thing was toasted, rolling on the floor
Laughing hysterically and pleading for more
The scene was rocking as the werewolves moved
To the undead reggae band's dance hall grooves
Meanwhile in the kitchen Frankenstein baked
Some Alice B. Toklas brownies and cakes
(We ate some hash) - We ate some monster hash
(Some monster hash) - It had the graveyard smashed
(We ate some hash) - And we all got trashed
(On monster hash) - We ate some monster hash
The party would have gone on 'til we all passed out
But just then we heard a bloodcurdling shout
"Watch out, beware, cover your necks
Dracula's got the munchies, and he's totally wrecked"
(He smoked some hash) - He smoked some monster hash
(Some monster hash) - He was completely smashed
(He smoked some hash) - That transylvanian's trashed
(On monster hash) - He smoked some monster hash
Now every night the dead rise up from the grave
To partake in our happening THC rave
For you, the living, this hash was meant, too
When you get to my door just say the Toyes sent you
(We'll smoke some hash) - We'll smoke some monster hash
(Some monster hash) - And we'll all get trashed
(We'll smoke some hash) - From my personal stash
(Of monster hash) - We'll smoke some monster hash
mmmm - that **** gooood
Easy, boy, save some for daddy
mmm - hash gooood

There is a track by a band called Shriekback called 'Coelocanth' - it is a very eerie instrumental track. Actually there are several tracks on the same album ("Oil and Gold") that could work well. [Shriekback - Oil and Gold, Island records - cat, No. 422-842882-2)
'Welcome To my Nightmare' - the 1975 album by Alice Cooper is chock full of great 'halloween' type music (Atlantic/Rhino Records) from the great title track, through 'Devil's Food' and 'Some Folks...' (ooh, not forgetting 'Cold Ethyl - a great song about necrophilia!!) to the down-right spooky story that the last ½ of the album gives... (Years Ago', 'Stephen', The Awakening & Escape) (this album has the added advantage of Vincent Price!!)
"The Gunfighter" by Harold Budd (spooky Brian Eno-ish minimalist electronica) is pretty cool for atmospherics.
Or there are a few 'themed' songs such as:
Matthew Sweet - "Dark Secret"
Spacehog - "The Horror"
Pink Floyd - "Echoes" (certainly the instrumental bits)
Jack Michaelson - "Thriller" (bit obvious, obviously - but more Vinnie P!)
Trickey Vs The Gravediggaz -"Tonite Is A Special Nite"
Rollins Band - "Ghostrider"
David Bowie - "Diamond Dogs"/ "We Are The Dead"/"Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family" (all on Diamond Dogs)
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - "Red Right Hand"
Marilyn Manson - "Great Big White World"
The Stranglers - "Four Horsemen" and their version of "Walk On By"
Dr John - "Party Hellfire"
Black Sabbath - "Black Sabbath" (or pretty much anything)
The Mission - "Wasteland"
P.M. Dawn - "If You Never Say Goodbye"
Japan - "Ghosts"
Edgar Winter Group - "Frankenstein"
Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear The Reaper"
Spear of Destiny - "Never Take Me Alive"
And don't forget 'Movie Themes' for Halloween, Omen ('Ave Satani'), Friday 13th, Alien, et al....
------------
Enough to be going on with??

I don't think that these songs are all that spooky but IMO they are appropriate for the holiday.
Thriller- Micheal Jackson
Superstition- Stevie Wonder
Somebody's Watchin Me- Rockwell
Creatures- Pink Floyd
The Horror- RJD2
Don't Fear the Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult

Maybe Im showing my age - how about Ghost Town by The Specials? Or then you have Spooky - as made famous by the Carlsberg ad (you know the one where Carlsberg run a wicked nightclub) - except it isnt scary, rather nice infact, in a chilled out sort of way. And excuse me, it seems no ones invited me to their party......or then, how about 'Its my party (and Ill cry if i want to)'. Hope that helps.....suspect it hasnt oh well......

Carmina Burana- used in The Omen soundtrack. A bit over the top- but good and spooky.

if u want to go with the pagan side of halloween, try a goth/rock band called Inkubus Sukkubus...... their music is brilliant.... all about witches, devils, demons and pagan ways...... if not, i would agree with the long list of songs given by Colin A. especially the david bowie tracks.... that is a totally brilliant lp... although i would chose a different marylin manson track than the one Colin A mentioned..... MM's version of 'sweet dreams' is way creepier than 'great big white world'

I always liked the Alice Cooper song from his Album "Billion Dollar Babies"
It was called "I Love the Dead"
I love the dead before they're cold
They're bluing flesh for me to hold
Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing
I love the dead before they rise
No farewells, no goodbyes
I never knew your rotting face
While friends and lovers mourn your silly grave
I have other uses for you, Darling
We love the dead
We love the dead, Yeah
Great stuff...takes me back!!
