Why do you like punk music?
I have been listening to Gogol Bordello, the Buzzcocks and Pink all evening and I want to find out how typical my taste is.

The Ramones are without a doubt the greatest punk band ever. They were also the first. They inspired The Clash & The Sex Pistols, but never achieved the same commercial success. If you are trying to get into punk, then they are absolutely essential.
Punk rock is defined as ant-establishment rock & formed an entire subculture, which later from the post-punk era spawned the goth subculture.
I love punk music becuase it's loud & fun & a beautiful contrast to more mainstream rock & pop. I love the anti-establishment & outsider idealogy that it embodies & embraces.
As for your tastes, Pink isn't punk. She's a bit more pop. The Gogol Bordellos, on the other hand, are fantastic. I love the Gypsy Punk album.

are the best punk bands of all time
About 85% of the music I listen to is punk or some sort of punk ancestor. I love punk music, because it isn't just mindless music about love and heartbreak. Punk was used as a tool in the 70s to get a message across. Most punk bands didn't even know how to play instruments, but they still rocked.... like the Slits for example.

Ramones. They're the ones that inspired all the british punk bands.
They might not have even considered themselves punk but they're the best.

Punk music is anything that goes against the grain.. and lashes out at society..
I like it because sometimes, I feel like lashing out, but instead I listen to others do it for me.
