Is there a moral or ethical difference between embryonic and adult stem cell research? Should an embryo or fetus be created for the sole purpose of research? Isn't creating life for the benefit of science playing God? Does this walk the line of human cloning? Should your tax dollars fund research with moral and ethical questions?

Additional questions: Would you support a candidate that is NOT opposed to creating embryos for the purpose of embryonic stem cell research? Do you think couples that undergo fertility procedure should have the option of donating their frozen embryos for stem cell research? Do you think the government should enact a law requiring fertility clinics to donate all unused, unwanted or unclaimed embryos for stem cell research?

Those embryos weren't created for the sole purpose of research. They are the leftovers of unwanted embryos of fertility clinics that couples who want children use. Most of those embryos will go into the garbage so why not let them be used for the potential of saving the life of a 5-year old kid with cancer or a person with alzeheimer's? Some say why not use cells from umbilical cords or adult cells but those stem cells can't change into different types of cells like those from embryonic stem cell research. If you get a stem cell from an adult is not going to be that useful since more embryonic stem cell have more potential to be effective. I would be happy if my tax dollars went for this program.

I don't think it would ever be necessary to create a embryo for the stemcells. These embryo's are already created at infertility banks and disposed of. I understand some people have a moral problem with the use of their tax dollar going to this research. It's a case where the majority decides. I think this has been pretty well blown out of porportion since most research is done by the pharmaceutical companies and there's a lot of private funding through charities. They have the money. The rest is all blown up politics.

No one is advocating creating embryos just so they can be harvested for stem cells. But many fertility clinics create more fertilized embryos than they will ever implant during an in-vitro fertilization process. Under current law, these extra embryos will be destroyed, gaining us nothing. They could be used for research that might cure many diseases and debilitating illnesses. Which is the better result?

They don't create embryos for science. When they make test tube babies for people having trouble getting pregnant, they make many of them and select the best one to impregnate the woman with. Then they throw the other ones away. Scientists want to use those thrown away ones to research on. But our anti-science administration convinced people that this is an abortion issue when it isn't. So many people misunderstand this issue.

All scientists agree that embryonic stem cell research is better then adult stem cell research. But because they can't get funding for the first, more has been done with the latter.

Far more progress has been made from adult stem cell research than embryonic. No need to stomp over our ethics when we have perfectly good adult stem cell research that shows a lot more signs of promise.

I don`t know, but those that champion stem cell research, should practice what they preach, and be impregnated, and then have a partial birth abortion, were they can see what happens to their unborn child, and then donate the stem cell.
