Bats are the only mammal capbable of true flight. They can range in size from a mere few inches to several feet. (One type of bat has a wingspan of six feet) They're mostly nocturnal/crepuscular...but some can be active a bit in daylight. Echolocation is the primary navigational tool.(Some bats do have rather good eyesight...none are actually "blind") Their diets can range from insects, to fish, to fruit, to blood...depending on which species you're talking about. "Bat" is a very nonspecific term...but those are some basics.

They are NOT rodents.
It is true that vampire bats drink blood...they make an incision and lap it up as it flows out.

Yes. They use sonar to guide themselves. They do a fantastic job getting rid of insects. They are mammals have soft downy fur. Their waste is used as fertilizer. The largest colony of free tail bats not living in a cave is under Congress street bridge in Austin Texas. Vampire bats lap up blood with their tongues. The floor of a cave has insects everywhere any unfortunate bat does not have a chance if it falls

Vampire bats are not dangerous, they only eat bugs. But, they dont have very good sight, so in order for them to stop flying, they have to run into something...i hope this helps!
