im 11 week into my pregnancy and im having a hard time with really bad morining sickness (more like all day sickness). and at the moment im finding it hard to find things to eat but the smell and taste of bacon sandwiches makes my mouth water and its the only thing that i can eat at the mo without wanting to throw up. and i also have the occasional feeling that i have to eat chips and gravy and i dont like chips and gravy at all. i am able to eat fruit alot so im getting plenty of vitamins, is all this fatty food bad for me and did anyone else have an experiance like mine??

I had cravings before I even knew I was pregnant each time (5 times!) and whoever called it morning sickness was a bloody liar! LOL I had it all day, every day all the way through!! In fact, 6pm was the worst time. Every time I sat down for an evening meal with my partner, I puked! Luckily, he didn't take it personally!! ;-) I was told to eat what you can keep down. Some food is better than no food! For some reason, I craved trifle during my last pregnancy. Normally I couldn't bear it but it was the only thing I could keep down, even for breakfast!! My poor partner even got up in the middle of the night to search for a 24hr Tesco's to buy me it! Once the birth was over, I never touched the yukky stuff again!

I wouldn't worry about your cravings. I've never been pregnant but had a friend who hated sea food until she got pregnant, then that's all she wanted so don't worry about your "Chips & Gravy" cravings. If you can only eat certain types of food without throwing up, I would say eat them. I mean, the baby needs some sort of nutrition, as do you, so eatting anything is better than nothing. The fruits will help though, but I know that eatting too many can cause other problems (diarrhea) so don't overload on that.
If you're really concerned about all this, I would suggest you talk to your doctor, or even a nurse.
Hope everything works out for you.

I know what you mean because at the begining of my first trimester I was so sick but I did have wierd cravings also and I did not feel sick when I ate them. Do not feel bad eating fatty foods because it will not affect the baby at all. I speak from experience I have 3 children and I am pregnant now with my 4th child.
All my pregnancies I craved different things, some healthy and some really fatty. But I did not gain alot a weight and my children are all heathy. You need to worry if you can't eat anything at all. At lease you could eat fruits, I could not do that at the beginning of my first trimester. You will get better because I thought that I would have been sick forever and now I am 34 weeks feeling great. Congratulations and Good Luck!!!!

Cravings are totally normal through out pregnancy starting as early as conception. There is a lil baby developing in your uterus so you are eating for two now. However sometimes I think cravings are taken out of proportion and exaggerated with females (I'm not talking about you it's a general statement). It is true that females do experience decreased and increased appetites including cravings. I just think that some females take it to an extreme as in having cravings every hour on the hour for ice cream, junk food etc. It sounds like your eating habits are balanced with fruits, vitamins, etc. so that's good. There is nothing wrong with craving bacon sandwiches, junk food and sugary foods are ok to eat now and then. I crave bacon sandwiches everyday and I'm not even pregnant. Enjoy.

Eat what you want while you're at this stage. The morning sickness will go away when your about 31/2 months. Drink alot of water with ice if you have to because sometimes water thats not too cold will gross you out more. If all you want to eat is bacon sandwiches then dig in!!!! Eat whatever you crave. As long as you take your vitamins you're ok. It's good that you eat fruit though. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I couldn't stand fruit at all. All I ate when I had morning sickness was pizza and fritos flavor twists. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

No, it is not too early - I had cravings before I even knew I was pregnant. I was sick from morning til night the first 4 months - it was the worst feeling ever - a nausea that you can't shake - I love (I do mean LOVE) coffee and the smell of it would would make me sooo sick. I craved the worst foods - mainly fries which are very fattening and unhealty - don't worry. It sounds like you are getting plenty of what you and your baby need. I found out AFTER I had my baby that women are actually getting a vitamin B shot to help with the nausea. You may want to ask your doctor about it.

It's never too early to have cravings. I had some of my cravings before I realized I was pregnant and then it was like, "oh so that's why I kept thinking about that". You should try to limit your fatty food intake, but I think if you're craving it it's best to have a little bit. Be sure to take your prenatal vitamins and discuss it with your doctor. If you are sick, the best thing is to eat regularly. Saltine crackers first thing in the morning really can help.

In my opinion, follow your cravings...it's better to eat some fatty food (which by the way is actually good for baby's brain) than go starving...which actually makes you sicker. At the begining of my pregnancy, I wanted code red MD and payday (before I even knew i was pregnant). then, later I was wanting chicken and rice all the time. Sometimes I even wanted taco bell, but that was until I wanted it soooo bad, had my husband take me to get it, then threw it up....gave up on that idea. And I always!!! wanted doritos.
I gave birth to a healthy baby girl 6lb 5oz.
p.s. just take prenatal or if that bothers your stomach, try the flintstones kid vitamins.
Good luck and congrats on the baby!

Chilli's, ice-cream, strawberry jam, orange juice, pickeled onions to name just a few of the cravings I had during my four pregnancies. Cravings are a way of your body telling you what you are lacking. My advice to you is if you ensure that you are eating a balanced diet then giving into those cravings will do you no harm. Morning sickness sucks and it makes you feel so miserable so eat what you can for now, and once you feel better, hopefully around the 15th week you can look at other ways of satisfing those cravings.

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!
