Are you completely unaware of what has been going on in this country? The US was attacked by terrorists and this president chose to invade a country that was not a threat to us and had nothing to do with the attack. The operation has been completely ****** up and Bush won't fire the guy in charge. He is trying to assume more power for himself than the US constitution allows. He pushed through a law that allows anyone in the US to be arrested strictly on his say so and then held indefinitely without the ability to see a judge to even say they are innocent. He has authorized surveillance of American citizens without court order. He's done all of this in the name of national security while using this "war on terror" to political advantage.
I'm assuming that you don't believe any of this is true. But, for the moment, lets pretend that you do. If that were the case how could you not speak out against his policies? Our country is based on its government being answerable to the people. To not say anything would be dangerous as it gives the president to much power. The other danger in not doing or saying anything is it gives the rest of the world the impression that the American population believes in what Bush is doing. That's why your friend has a negative impression of the US.

WOW! You could very well be the paragon of ignorance if I ever did see one.
WE are not destroying America's image! Bush is doing that himself pretty easily through immoral wars!
Why support a president who keeps his people engaged in his lies through fear and who tramples all over the Constitution????
Or a president who raises the cost of living of the majority of his people???
And who says this is about us not admitting defeat? You are not an American and do not understand the horrors and attrocities Bush has committed!
He once said "A dictatorship would be much easier. No doubt about that."
He is the closest to an imperialist Nazi we have ever had.
Do your homework on why we oppose Bush!

regrettably, the president is purely an exceedingly, very small piece of the puzzle, and greater or much less a public figurehead interior of america. The coverage comes from people who's marketing campaign contributions and different political string pulling "made it take place". in case you inspect fairly some the failings Obama has been announcing on the grounds that obtaining close to to being elected, they sound rather "neo conservative". regrettably, it looks like greater of an identical direction in direction of a police state for america. inspect this quote, and tell me it does not chill out you to the bone: "we won't be able to proceed to count purely on our defense force so as to attain the nationwide secure practices objectives that we've set" "we've to have a civilian nationwide-secure practices tension that's purely as efficient, purely as stable, purely besides funded" This became in a speech in July by ability of Obama, and it appears that evidently like some thing appropriate out of the police-state George W Bush "properly look after Ya" playbook. do we actually enable this take place? rather?

The rest of the world hates America not because of the Democrats but because they fear that America has switched over to warmongering and empire. They fear this because America is threatening anybody and everybody who goes against them with war and destruction of their economies.
Bush is defending America the country, but he is doing this by destroying America the ideals and principals. He destroys freedom in the name of freedom; he tortures prisoners and then says we need to do so to stop the enemy from torturing their prisoners; he says we needed to stop Saddam Hussein forcing his ideas and beliefs on his people, and he does this by forcing our beliefs and ideas on his people. If you feel you owe the USA a lot for saving your freedom, then help now when our freedom is now under attack from this one who is now taking complete dictatorial power and doing so in the name of democracy. Stand by America if you feel you owe her, not by George Bush who is destroying her.

First of all, un-engage the caps lock, soldier.
Every president needs to have dissent, and I hope you understand why. While I'll be the first to admit that being a so-called "dangerously outspoken" liberal is the biggest cliche of my generation, I also understand that in reality, Bush is a god awful president. Not that we need to focus every minute of our lives to discreting him, because he's great at doing that himself. What the incessant complaining does is set up a curtain that lets him and his administration continue to break policy and further their goal for the apocalypse.
Remember, not questioning is the sort of mentality that gives way for genocide. Just, do it tastefully.

The right and obligation to hold political views and to debate them is a keystone of what the United States is supposed to stand for. Calling people names is not debate. I fought in a war so that people could hold any idea that they damned well pleased. That is what freedom means

When you say "admit defeat", do you mean when Bush became president? If a vote were taken today, he wouldn't win. His popularity is down and with good reason. He is a horrible president.

" When is the left democratic cry babies party ever going to admit defeat and shut up?"
Easy.
When the right-wing neo-cons stop lying, stop being hypocritical, stop trampling American's civil rights, and stop sacrificing our soldiers in an invasion-turned-occupation, based on misinformation.
And believe me, it aint the left-wing that is destroying USA image.
