I'm an RN and any of the symptoms you were experiencing prior to your cervical fusion could reappear. What and where will depend on the level of the cervical fusion since the different cervical nerve roots present symptoms at different places. Symptoms might include numbness, pain of different types, tingling. muscle spasm, muscle twitching, abnormal reflexes, loss of muscle strength, loss of grip, etc. Because of the immediate danger of putting pressure on nerve roots or the spinal cord itself it is important to have a suspected cervical fusion problem evaluated immediately. This involves evaluation by your neurologist or orthopedist as well as Xrays and other tests as required such as MRI ,etc. If you suspect problems with a spinal fusion of any type please avoid any activities that might increase pressure on your spinal cord including lifting, bending, coughing, etc. If you are unable to get in touch with your specialist, please go to your nearest Emergency Department so that your condition can be evaluated before any permanent damage is done. Good luck to you and God bless.

Do you hear some crackling noises in your neck. I didn't have a fusion, but a dischectomy (spelling), anyway, I heard that this can happen to a fusion if the donor bone doesn't take. I would say if you're having increased pain down your arm any tingling possibly, means that the bone is moving around and irritating the nerves. Mostly though, I would listen for noise. That would be a good indicator. Good luck. I hate neck pain!!

Whoa, that is SCARY. Get to a doctor and have an x-ray ASAP if you have any doubt.
