Good question young man.
Reminds me of the saying ''Speak quietly, but carry a big stick''.
I'm male, 36, but don't consider myself a 'man'
My dad is 85, he's a man.
You can be hard, much harder than me, but it don't make you a man.
To be masculine you must have done stuff, such as had a wife, given life to and supported children, fought in self defence, bought your own home (or built it).
There are many things that make you a man, having hair on your face and arms is not one of them.
I'm 6' tall, ex army, ex copper, married and lead 100 ppl+ everyday at work.
But I strive to be a man.
Good luck.

I think its both things. Example - my husband is the most masculine guy I know. He is the perfect combination of a tough, rugby playing, hard working man but he's also quite a sensitive man (sensitive to my needs and feelings) without being a raging girl's blouse. For me personally, I can't stand it when you look at a man's hands and they are neatly manicured. Also don't like it when they spend longer in the bathroom than I do. Men should be men. Leave the manicures and facials to the girls!

bit of both, i always go for very physically masculine men, but i believe its just a confidence thing deep down, if you believe you are masculine then i suppose u will be. All most women want is someone who makes them feel safe, to me that means someone who does jujitsu or something and who has physical strength, but to some women its something totally different

Being a real man is in your mind, how you face your problems, how you treat those around you, not in physical strength or build.
A guy i know is a big, scary f**ker who could easily drink us all under the table but inside is far from being a real man.
My opinion: Masculinity is shown through your charachter; and that's what women (not girls) like.

Completely mental. Guys can be puny but still me masculine. By the ways guys who care just about their appearances will fall flat on their faces. You can't stay that way forever. You need to be deeper.

It's all in your hormones.
Testosterone makes you aggressive and hairy with a tendancy to put on muscle or fat. That's why female power lifters look the way they do.
Oestrogen makes you submissive (although sudden withdrawal of it makes you aggressive - hence PMT) and grow breasts.
Our gonads produce both. Generally men produce more testosterone than oestrogen and women more oestrogen than testosterone. Whem our gonads get it wrong, strange things happen.

Someone is masculine if they have a maly physique. I suppose someone could be mentally masculine but it would be harder to show?

A eunuch is still a male. Perhaps in that case, it's really irrelevant.
