One dictionary defines "transaction" as discrete activity within a computer. I know about database and bus transactions. But can you properly and gramatically use the VERB transact in this sense? Can you say, for example, the processor is transacting with a cache?

don't see why not. but, the word has so many uses that specifying it does not sound correct.
