Nature can be awsome in the truest sence. Powerful, dangerous and beautiful. Have you ever been caught in the cusp between safety and danger in the face of something so beatuiful, it was hard to tear yourself away. What did you see, where was it and what happened.

Being on a trek in Vietnam in Cu Chi. I stopped to look at the tropical jungle, the colours were so beautiful, so many different shades of green and all so vivids. The light over there is different to the UK somehow, shows different colours. Anyway, I knew I had to get a scoot on because the paths are easily lost in the jungle and the group leader was getting further away - but I just wanted to stop and stare, to drink it all in - I had to catch up with the others and just left it longer and longer and it all seemed more and more beautiful but more and more scary. A very surreal experience - almost like a dream.

i was with my best friend when she gave birth.. altho i had already had 4 kids, i was terrified. But it really was the most beautiful thing i have ever witnessed.. the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and at one point there was real concern about getting the baby out alive..half way thru i wanted to leave and was compelled to stay, but after nearly 12 hours we delivered a beautiful little girl... Who is now 14 and still just as beautiful.. It was a grand priviledge that i will always feel honoured and grateful for being allowed to witness.

Thanx Nessa.. xx.

i remember the tv show 'the blue planet' had a scene in which killer whales harried a blue whale and its calf for hours until it was exhausted. You couldn't look away as this whale fought desperately to protect its offspring. Also when an anaconda smothered and devoured an antelope. Just incredible. It's difficult not to anthropomorphisise at times, but they seem to me so merciless and efficient, when they are just doing what they need to do.
I think it's often humbling when you see predators hunt and they exhibit such singleness of purpose, which to us may look cruel but to them it is a matter of eating or starving. Animals like sharks or crocodiles, which are so perfectly adapted they have been around and survived since dinosaurs.

A hurricane in Mexico. She was called Michelle and we were on our way to the cyclone centre. The lightening was absolutely amazing and even though we knew its power and danger we just wanted to watch it unfold in front of our eyes. It went from a beautiful paradise to dark chaos in a very short period of time. People were shouting at us to get inside but something just made us freeze and stare. Incredible, I will never forget it.
