Cancer thoughts are scary, but remember that most abnormal pap smears do turn out to be nothing. The Pap smear is designed to have a high false positive rate, just because it is better safe than sorry.

The vinegar turns areas of abnormal cells white, so that when the doc looks at your cervix, he can get an idea of what's going on in there. This is called a colposcopy. If he sees anything weird, he may biopsy some of the cells. You should let your doctor know that you are pregnant, but none of this stuff will harm the baby.

If you do turn out to have cancer (again, VERY unlikely) you'll obviously need to consult with your doctor about what to do. Often you can carry the baby to term if the cancer is not advanced. But try not to stress about it yet... there are about 10000 cases of cervical cancer in the US each year, for 3.5 MILLION abnormal pap smears per year. Take care.

I am 12 weeks pregnant. Had past abnormal paps. They will most likely look at your cervix with a special scope called a colposcopy. All they will do now is look and see what is going on. They most likely will not do a biopsy when you are pregnant. I had 3 colposcopies and 2 biopsies. But this last time I had abnormal pap, I was pregnant. The doc is waiting til after I deliver to biopsy. Dont worry , whatever is going on, they can take care of. Pre cancer cells can take a long to turn into something more serious.

Same thing happened with my sister. When she had her pap done it cam back abnormal but they told her that they couldn't do anything because she was pregnant. 9 months later she gave birth to a healthy little boy. After she healed she went back to the doctor to be tested again and her tests were normal. They said it couldv'e been the pregnancy that caused it to come back abnormal. My sister was only 19 years old at the time and now she's 22 and everything is normal.

if you had sex between the pap and 3 days before the pap....it is likely to come back and show pre-cancer cells.

Why aren't you asking your doctor these questions instead of asking on here? He or she is much better qualified to give you the answers, having seen you actual tests.
