sprint the first 100m then pace it out on the second 200 and gradually build back up your speed so that by the last 100 stretch you're at a full sprint

If you’re such a glutton for punishment that you want to run the 400m dash, you should have trained for it, but hey you run the 800m and thats crazy so you're already nuts.

hard for first 50 meters,(on the first corner),then into the back straightaway try to keep your form and maintain your position take quick & shorter arm pumps to gain momentum, stay as close to the inside of your lane as you can without running on it. Half-way through the final turn, and on the last straightaway it is time for the after-burners to come on and empty the tank to the finish.

I have also told my kids who don't usually do the event or first timers to go first 80m at 90% and into the backstretch keep the speed but stride it and then when u hit the last curve pick up some speed and like the last 100-150m to kick it

Don't listen to these idiots who tried to answer this question.. Take it from me I'm a 51.9 400 meter runner on a good given day. The 400 meter dash is one of the toughest races in Track & Field, if you want to try my strategy id be honored to give it to you. -Sprint the first 100 meters as fast as you can, this allows you to start off good and boosts your confidence throughout the race. -Coast the 2nd 100 meter. We call it a coast, its where you don't slow down, but your more relaxed your running at about 95%. Try to break the race down within 200 meter segments. I like reaching the first 200 meter at about 24.5 - 25 secs, but that depends on how fast you are in the open 2. - The 3rd 100 meter dash is where you want to go full out again, give it all you have... Again I know it sounds hard and painful but its a tough race, you need to go full out on that 2nd curve, its where ur gonna gain most of ur time from. -The home straight away is all about form.. At this point no one is getting faster, everyone around is is going to be tired, the guy who holds the best form is going to end up winning the race. Meaning arms come up, ur gonna be in deep pain but u need to huge those long strides and finish strong. My splits usually are 25 secs for the first 200 meters and 27 secs for the 2nd 20 meters.. U can do it.

sprint the first 100 then just let off a little and the last 200 build up the spead again and at the 100 let all it out and run so fast that you feel like you are goin to fall over

the first 200m be at a really good pace that ur 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,10,11th,or 12th. the 100m u will hav to be a little faster. so you would be at least 8th unless...... the last 100m u should run ur "fastest".
REMEMBER: AIR COMES IN YOUR NOSE AND OUT WITH YOUR MOUTH! IT WILL BE EASIER AND HELPS YOUR HEALTH. YOU WILL COUGH A LOT IF YOU BREATH AND EXHALE WITH YOUR MOUTH. IM EXPERIENCED!

fastest means that you run really fast without breathing too hard at the end or getting a heartatack or making your heart pump 999mph (im exaggerating).
always run on lane1 if you want to go around some1 then uses at least lanes as possible.
