all rechargable batteries will eventually lose the ability to hold a charge and will need to be replace. I've always try to drain my batteries as much as possible before I recharge them and I seem to get pretty good milage out of them. I bought my first iPod in 2001 and didn't replace that battery until earlier this year.

That is not true. Well, it is partially true. The truth is that Ipod nanos(like all other Ipods) are rechargable. Plug it into the wall, or your computer and the battery will recharge.

What you have heard it partially true because the battery, like all rechargable batterys, will EVENTUALLY stop holding a charge and have to be replaced. I am fairly certain it will charge more than 20 times, I've had my Ipod mini for almost 2 years and it is still recharging fine.

Go ahead and buy your ipod...It will most likely come with a 1 year warrenty, if it stops recharging, bring it back and get a new one! And anyway, after a year, Ipod nanos will be obsolete anyway...

the number of charges is about 500. And only when the battery runs all the way down (die completely) and then u start charging count as one time. So if you dont let it die completely, u can use it for about 2 yrs. And Apple dont use it as a major way to make money (they do make some, but not a lot). It's just the battery isn't perfect, it'll die sooner or later.

The number of charges for all Ipods is like 1,000 mine is at this point you don't need a new batteries, and you can get garrenties on them, but it gets slightly annoying after 1,000 charges.
