They do loads for it in London and surrounding areas. Last year all the schools did art projects, libraries do talks, museums have exhibitions, there are also loads of african art exhibitions, local charities run seminars and, the library database should tell you whats on and when. You need to look a bit harder. Like any event you don't know unless you look.

In all fairness, you'd be hardpressed to find that many people who care about history at all, black history or otherwise. People don't really see how it affects them anymore, they are worried about their own problems (and don't really see how learning about all history can help with those problems). But that is the major reason why no one does that much about black history; history just doesn't matter much to anyone anymore. It's not right, but beyond what you are doing now (reminding people about history and why it makes a difference), there isn't that much you can do.

Because by its very nature, history is in the past, and the past can't be rewritten.

Or do you mean to stop it? I don't want to stop it....
