I always see big billboards for outlet malls along the highway, especially for cigarettes, fireworks and the designer brand stores. But is the stuff really cheaper? Say for example, if I went to a Polo Ralph Lauren factory outlet store, is it really going to be that much cheaper than a Polo Ralph Lauren store in a big mall?

A good sale in a regular store/department store is almost always cheaper than outlet mall store prices . . . unless of course, the outlet mall store is having a sale!

Not by much. Usually with the outlet stores, including the "lower tax" towns, by the time they add hidden costs, you're lucky if you get 1% or 2% cheaper!
