Measure L, which is the length from the tip of the cone to the edge. Then measure C the circumferance along the edge. (Or measure the radius R at the edge, and compute C=2 times Pi times R.) Finally, multiple C by L and divide the result by 2.

Area=(L x C)/2=(L x Pi x R)=L x 3.14 x R
