Depends what you want to study about it. Avoid the politically correct ones. Classics include reprints of the Artillerist's Manual (reprinted by Morningstar Press), and the 1863 Ordnance Manual. I also highly recommend reading the collected letters written by General Lee as commented on by, I think it was his nephew who was also a general in the war. Shelby Foote's books are also standard books on the War Between the States (WBTS).

I'm not sure where you can find a good book on that subject. However, any book that omits identifying the Rothschild bankers' role in igniting that war by fomenting dissention over slavery, in order to divide America into warring factions and to endebt both sides with debt, is so hopelessly incomplete as to be useless. You want a history book that makes sense of history, and so you don't want a history book that makes the American Civil War appear to have suddenly started without the instigation of an interested foreign party.

Start with McPherson, Battle Cry of Freedom, a relatively recent one volume account. After that there are hundreds of books. Go to the library and they will show you shelves full of books on the Civil War.
