I am looking for a good discussion site that offers some reasonably intelligent discussions on issues of the day where you don't have all of the stupid questions and remarks that seem to dominate this one.

Wherever there are open forums, there will be idiots spouting garbage. I have just learned to ignore them...

I think yahoo has done a good job with this site. The question and answers format has it's limitations, but it keeps the free for all mentality of most other sites pretty much in check.

Nope because people are just that way. There are many people who just can't be reasonable, or even bother to listen to both sides, and in many cases refuse to....I think you are out of luck on that one.....there are good people on here though...ones who have the opinion but are not afraid to hear yours....it will be the same everywhere....

and then you will have the people who will just say things to get a rise out of people....and ask stupid questions because they think its cool...but really only makes them look even more stupid....

this one goes back and forth. sometimes it will be alright if you have time to wait, and if not just take a break from the serious and relax for a bit .. some of these will give you a good laugh (assuming you find ignorance funny)

humans disagree , It does not matter where you go ,even if you join a club of like minded people ,you all will not agree on how to approach a problem, you will have many disagreements some of which you will view a stupid .. if you choose to live in a cave and have no human contact ,you will then only have yourself to disagree with..
