It may not your battery it could be the starter motor. If there is not enough power from the battery the Bendix on the starter that turns the flywheel on the engine will only partial engage and make a high rattling sound. Have your battery tested, if that's OK look at the starter motor.

a starter will get hot and not turn over when its bad. and it will sometimes make a clicking sound. this could be the battery that has gotten so weak that it doesn't have enough power to turn it over. alot of times people will mistaken a bad starter for nothing but a weak battery.

I do not exactly understand what you are trying to say. Starter died and the battery exploded when you tried to crank it? Write out your question so that we can understand what you are trying to say.
good luck..........

well sounds like to me its a started problem but could also be both but defantly a started problem they dont make loud nioses when started ,, now if its weak it might make a differant sound but no loud clank.. but if it makes a loud clank everytimne to crank it it could very well be the flywheel [missing teeth on the started or flywheel ]

Please rephrase your question so we can make some sense of it.
I can't believe we have "mechanics" on this channel that can diagnose a problem, offer solutions, and not even know what the problem is ??????
