once i sat upon a rock
to think and be alone
just a simple little rock
a round and slimy stone

i pondered mysteries of life
and words that wise men said
i thought of joy and happiness
i thought of fear and dread

i had no solutions
for the sorrows that we bear
alone and helpless there i sat
as even tide drew near

then a revelation hit me
like an arrow through my heart
we don't have to change the world
just our tiny little part

we would have more power
than a king upon a throne
if we could get what i just got
while sitting on that stone.

This poem really touched me. It is true. As a Christian, I can help spread His word by acting like a Christian, or in other words, "We don't have to change the world, just our tiny little part." You really should get this poem published. I don't like poems, but I like this one.

Yes, actually I do. I am a person who enjoys literature of this sort and do ponder such materials as you have described. Try reading your poem while listening to certain types of music too, it also brings about more entangling thoughts.

P.S. write another one if you can, I'd be interested in reading it. My favorite portion of the poem is the last two parts of eight lines. That brings about more intriguing thoughts for pondering our own little worlds around us and how to change them for the better so that we can assist others around us.

Very insightful.

I'm reminded of this: "I am only one, but I am still one. I cannot do everything, but I can still do something. I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."

...or something like that.

P.S. A site like Myspace or Y!360 might be a better place for this.

It's the sort of thing that you see in Reader's Digest or on greeting cards. I wish epiphanies were really so easy to come by.

Very true. The individual contribution is undervalued. We can't change the world but we can change our world.
