And manage not to get pregnant?

2006-10-17 09:21:59 · 29 answers · asked by Paty 1 in Pregnancy & Parenting Pregnancy

My husband and I are not ready for children yet, that is why. We need to get other things straight and ourselves settled into our new home. It is not because I am having sex with different men.

You need to chart your cycle.
Without knowing how long your cycle normally is...there's no way to tell when your ovulating.
If your cycle is shorter than 28 days, you could be ovulating on your period.

Most women ovulated 10-15 days after their period.

You'll have to track for a few months before you can get a good estimate, and even then it's not 100%.
You could consider birth control or an IUD...unless your religion prohibits b/c.

My personal opinion is that if you're going to use the rhythm method as a form of contraception, you should have him pull out as well. It won't be 100% but if this is the route you want to go that is what I would do...

there is no safe time to have sex without a condom. you can get pregnant at anytime. but i believe 2 weeks after a period/2 weeks before a period the woman is ovulating. so that would b the worst.

About two months after you start taking Birth Control or you can sub in a different method like contraceptive foams and such. If you are going to just trust to timing, you might want to start thinking about which room will make the best nursery now and be ready.

No time really because every womans cycle is different, and Sperm can live in you for several days.

If you dont want to use a condom try something like a spermacide... they have a decent prevention rate. and they dont interupt sponentity of sex very much, and you also get the all natrual feel... my hubby and i dont like condoms either...

Hi there!
Your cycle has three stages: menstruation, fertility, and infertility. After your period, you'll have a fertile stage. Depending on how your individual cycle works, it may begin during, immediatly after, or a few days after your menstruation tapers off. Here's how to tell when you're fertile: Your body makes two kinds of vaginal mucus, one when you're fertile, one when you're not. Fertile mucus is stringy, and feels more "gooey" (many women also report more mucus during their fertile period, so if there's a certian time of month you find you need to use pantiliners, it's probably your fertile time). Non-fertile mucus breaks, and can be less clear than fertile mucus. To check, get a SMALL sample of your mucus and try to stretch it between your thumb and forefinger. If it makes a string, you're fertile, if not, you aren't. The best way to make sure you don't get pregnant is to limit sex to the time between your fertile period and your menstruation. In practical terms, wait two days after your fertile mucus dissapears before having sex, if you don't want little ones.
(PS, don't check your mucus right after sex, as his output is ALWAYS stringy, and don't forget to wash your hands!)

NO TIME! If you don't have adequate birth control then no time is safe. Many people think that right after your period is the safest....that would depend on if you are "rock solid" steady on your timing of you menstral cycle. Even if you are rock solid you can still throw off your timing by stress, work, or even the weather.

Best advice....get reliable protection or invest in a baby name book...you're gonna need it soon.

Well,
If you can' predict when your period is coming ATLEAST a week ahead then i'd say afterwards. But if you do it afterwards i'd wait atleast four days after your period is over with because my cousin's period was over and she had sex the next day and still got pregnant.Something to do with your body having a few eggs left.So i'd say the SAFEST time(As safe as you can be without a condom)Would be atleast four days AFTER your period.
Best of luck!
Brittany

All doctors like to say there is no guarantee, but if you pay careful attention to your cycle, you're less likely to get pregnant. Check out this website. They offer a free menstrual cycle calendar to help you out and know when you are most fertile to avoid unprotected sex at those times.

The safest time is when you wear a condom and the girl uses something too.

I believe the middle is when you most likely to get pregnant. I would still use Birth Control though, if you feel the need to not use a condom.
