I am 19 years old and have a fling with a teacher I never had classes with. Even though he is still teaching and I already graduated, could we still legally date? Will he still be able to be a teacher?

Somehow I doubt there is any law against it. You are both adults and you are out of school.

There may be something in the teacher's contract that states he's not allowed to date students or former students.

Sure you are of age and even if you had classes with him back in the day. You are no longer a minor in his care. Now that is the law. He needs to look at the social culture of the school. How small a town is it and how many people are going to think you started while you were still a student. Just because it is legal does not mean that it could not cost him his job in some small towns. Schools can always find something to fire you over. It's not right but it's fact. Good luck

If you are a graduate, and 18 or over, yes you can. Of course they can still teach, there is nothing wrong with dating a teacher once you are no longer in school and of age.

I know you're young and in love, but I feel you should avoid that guy. Could you ever trust him? I wouldn't. Even if he's a brand new teacher and only around 25 years old, his having a fling with a student from his school is BAD. If he's older, it's actually worse, as he is taking advantage of younger women with less experience and judgement.

Legally no, the law can do nothing. You're legal.

I really think you should run from this guy.

i know of a gym teacher that married a former student so she must have been 17 or 18 not sure how old when she married him but still i would think not even 20. It isn't illegal. They stayed together for awhile I am sure they had some good years. Nothing illegal about it at all though.

Is the teacher single? If so, your scenario reads/sounds o.k. You are out of school and over the age of 18. That means, legally, you're an adult. The teacher should be single (divorced or never married). If he is still married, stay clear.

You are not going to the school as a student and you are at the age of consent. He was not your teacher, so thee is not question of wither he is using his position as power over you. He can't effect your grades because you are a graduate...

It may be frowned upon by some people, but there is no law against it.

Of course you can date. You are legal and not a student so there arent any rules that say you cant. Only if you were still in school it would be a problem. So go for it girl!

Yes. As long as you were not together while you were in school OR a minor, this is a perfectly legit relationship. Last time I checked, teachers were allowed to have lives and personal relationships with other adults.
