I never did the whole next step thing. I found that once they're old enough to drink regular milk, there is no point to giving them formula still unless of course you feel that your child isn't getting enough nutrients. But regular milk has enough fat in it also. I switched my daughter right away to cows milk. She drinks Lactaid because she's lactose intolerant but she's very healthy!

I would go with Enfamil Next Step! My son was 3 weeks early and is growing fine. You cant tell he was early he is so big. He is 9 and 1/2 months. But my pediatrician told me to go from Enfamil to the next step because he doesn't really want the formula anymore. She said it was a little to early to switch to whole milk.

I'd do Next Step until the first birthday, or at least a little closer to it. I wouldn't worry about the 5 weeks early, just go by the day he was born. My baby was born 3 weeks early and I had him off formula about a week before he turned 1 and have had no problems. We switched to Next Step at 9 months and that's what we used until we went to whole milk.

Babies shouldn't have regular cow's milk until after a year old. Use enfamil because it has the iron needed for him right now to continue growing good. After he is a year give him whole milk.

Go with the next step. I started my very healthy son on this when he was 9 months and eating some solids. Whole milk shouldn't be given until 12 months.
"One of the main reasons you should wait until after baby is 1 year old to introduce milk as a formula/breast milk replacement is that milk/dairy hinders the absorption of iron in the body. Milk is also much harder for baby to digest than breast milk or infant formula.
Milk by itself does not contain all the nutrients of breast milk or formula and should never be used as a substitute until after 1 year of age. " (http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com)

after he turns one year of age you can give him enfamil next step right now you should still be giving him the regular formula, my daughter was 6 weeks early, i tried giving her the next step but for some reason she really didn't like it so i ended up just giving her regular milk after she turned a year old and she is fine.

How old is your baby? Don't start reg milk until at least 1yr. I'm not sure the price difference between regular formula and next step, but if the next step is more expensive price wise or quantity wise, just stick with the formula until 1 yr. It's just a way to get parents to spend money uselessly.

do not ever give a baby under 1 whole milk. I did that and my first born was very sick and hospitalized because i didnt know any better but with my son i was giving him juice and then got him to drink strawberry and chocolate milk and i also made him eat more table food so he wouldnt be hungry for the formula. Good luck

How old is the baby? If the baby is under 1 year old, DO NOT give regular milk - they MUST have formula or breastmilk. If the baby is over a year old, whole milk is the right thing.

Whatever you do, don't start reg whole milk until after one full year. Use a baby formula until then. I gave my 10-month-old daughter milk - she was big and healthy so why not right? She got horrible cramps and diarrhea and had to be put on pre-digested formula for allergies for four months before we could try again.
