Almost all perennial grasses grow in the winter--it's just mostly root growth underground and at a very slow rate. The part above ground is normally dormant and grows very little if at all.

WINTER RYE IS VERY GOOD IF YOU WANNA PLANT IT IN YOUR LAWN. ALSO WINTER WHEAT AND OATS GROW GOOD IN THE WINTER.MOST OF THE LAWN GRASSES WILL NOT GROW WHERE IT GETS TO FREEZING FOR VERY LONG.

theres no grass who can survive during winter..but the evergreens does, like holy trees and conifers.
