medical term would be sinusitis or if your a smoker or have allergies.To stop this before going to doctor First try a humidifier or air cleaner in your sleeping room. Dust and dry air cause a lot of problems If it still persist contact a physician.Make sure if you have carpet vacumn often.Make sure you have no mold, pet dander or dust in house.Clean all bedding in extra hot water once a week. I think what the other person was trying to spell was "phlegm"...the body retains alot of fluid over night...
I know I spend 20 mins. trying to clear my throat of that stuff every morning after brushing; peroxide mixed with water usually helps.

My husband does because he has a gluten allergy, and it congests him up. He also may have a yeast syndrome that he is not treating by diet. When we were, it seemed like his morning mucus was much less.

Maybe you need to drink more water. Check out this site: http://www.watercure.com The guy who owns that site believes that many of us are chronically dehydrated and don't even realize it. He says that this chronic dehydration may be the cause of all sorts of common health issues we experience.
