In the Customer Care section dedicated to this paticular user site (http://messages.next.yahoo.com/next/forumview?rt=1&bn=SEA-YahooAnswers&so=L)
there have been several suggestions to initiate User Moderators to help police this catagory, as well as others rife with Repeat Abusers, Clones, Bots and ROMA's.

What other suggestions might anyone have?

Replies from Bots, Repeat Abusers and Clones will immediately be reported...so don't bother...thanks.

If this problem weren't so prevelant, I wouldn't feel my question was warrented.

The problem isn't a "few" it's rampent.

Yes, I've agreed to the "don't respond" idea, but it seems too many ignore that request.
Just look at how many reponces "g_dh_ates" has gotten on one posted question alone. Over 145!!!

just_ine_credible,
This part of Yahoo needs Moderators. That's how other boards work and I think that it's the most effective. We need a certain number of moderators that do the policing. It's the most direct and efficient way in my opinion.

Bigotry is always borne of ignorance of some kind.....That said, I do think there should be some distinction made for those who are truly ignorant without a point of reference (and just don't know better) and are sincerely asking questions which might seem redundant.....and those who are ignorant and actively hateful. Frankly, there are too many of the latter on this site for my taste and I am tiring of the whole effort. Also I strongly suspect that several of them are, in fact, the same person writing under different names. In any case, I choose to ignore the immature hateful (while reporting them) and respond to the "merely" ignorant in a way which might be more tolerant and forgiving.......maybe if we point out the ways in which we are more alike than different.........after all, there was a time when I was uncomfortable with my (homo)sexuality......why should I expect more of a heterosexual who has been raised with the same misconceptions and prejudices as I?

In addition to not responding to those you speak of, I also give them a thumbs down both on their posting and when I find one of their answers that is disrespectful. I also went to the suggestions area and have posted a thread suggesting if they cannot do moderators, that there is tracking software to find the origin computer, which I am sure they could block from access to answers. ( as yet I have not seen any action to reporting them, which I also do ad nauseum.)
When I returned today, I could not find this posting, so assume it has been removed for an unknown reason.. I also suggested a public posting of the offenders known handles and the reason they were being banned.

So much for ideas. (it is possible they felt my posting was too similar to others as I have seen many comment on the crap that cetain people continue to blatantly get away with.)

I stopped answering them a long time ago. I also report them but I also get the feeling that unlike in other categories, Yahoo is a little slow to delete them here. Whenever that What should I do idiot shows up in the religion category that delete him faster than you can report him. It seems funny they can't do that here. I've notice the abuser(s) are starting switch their names also. I still think it's mostly one person with alot of time on his/her hands.

******The simplest solution would be that only level 2 or higher could ask a questions that would eliminate just about all of it.

These two answers are right on the money. The more we ignore them, the less they have to bash with. I'm not saying we block them all together, it would be nice, but after all everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. Even if it is mean and hatefull. That's where the "rising above them" comes in. I say just stop answering the questions. Things will die down after a short while. After all I survived highschool as a homosexual I think I can handle a few avatars typing a few harmless words.

unfortunately there are clearly a few people out there who have much more time then compassion. They are a limited few who like to create trouble for others. I agree that not answering their posts ( even for the points) and simply reporting the posts everyone you run across, will help clue in yahoo.
These people simply create a new id when theirs gets suspended, and keep on, but they only do it as long as they can get a rise out of us. let's rise above them. Let's be better then them.

I often wish that the people who are SO against the people that this category is intended for would just STAY OUT OF IT!!! ARGH!
By the people it is intended for I mean Lesbians , Gays , Bi and Trans folks AND people who are part of their lives or are honestly curious. I'm straight and have several gay and transgender friends and it pi$$es me off to see all the hate directed against people I care for.
As for a solution...we can only keep reporting and not responding for now.

Stop responding to the questions. Only report them and give them thumbs down. If at least five to ten people reported on the same bashing, and bigot questions; the Yahoo Administrators would begin to take notice and or action.

Ignoring would be a good idea, except when I come to answers I come to answers questions that do not insult me. I prefer the policing idea, that way we WILL have control over people who are nothing but sad and pathetic sitting in their cots with a rattle.

I report them it does not do any good. I have said it before and I will say it again Yahoo hates us they just give us this section so that they can keep our questions out of other categories.
