It is probably teething. Give her some baby tylenol and re-check her temp in 30 minutes. If it hasn't gone down, give her pediatrician a call. They may just suggest giving her more tylenol so keep her temp under control. But do call her pediatrician.

Contrary to what most people believe, a fever is not caused from teething. I know plenty of children who teethed w/o any fever. I always heard the fever thing from my mom and grandmother's. It is an old wives tale.
As far as the fever, a 100 degree temp in an 8 month old is not that serious (remember in school...they would not send anyone home unless they had a fever higher then 101?). Children's body temperatures fluctuate. I am not saying you should not be concerned though - if it lasts more than 24 hours call the doc. For that matter - if you are uncomfortable with the situation...call the doc. That is why they get paid the big bucks.
If she just started to get the fever and has had no other symptoms...keep an eye on her. She may develop symptoms over the next 24 - 48 hours, or it could all go away. If the fever remains and their are no other symptoms I would worry about ear infections and other internal infections as that is what causes fever...infections.

Have you tried giving her any tylenol or ibuprofen? It might be teething. Some people say kids won't get a fever with teething but every child is different. If you give her a fever reducer and it doesn't go down in the next hour, it might be an ear infection in which she would probably need an antibiotic. Don't let the fever get too high! : )

It very well could be teething. Give her a dose of Baby Motrin and if her fever still hasn't gone down in a few hours or it goes up then call/see the doctor right away. Hope she gets to feeling better.

It may be teething but 100 sounds too high for it to be that. If I were you I would go to the doctor or hospital. A severe fever can cause deafness and blindness if it gets too high. Let the doctor figure out whats wrong though because you don't want to risk your child's life.

It might be teething, but there is also the chance it could be an ear infection. My 3 year old just got over an ear infection and the ONLY symptom she had was a fever.

give her tylenol....then 2 hrs later give her motrin.......my doctor told me to alternate between the two until the fever was gone. It worked wonders. I still use it today when my kids and I run fevers. If the fever doesnt go away by in the morning take her to her pediatrician and get her checked out.
