I was thinking of using a Unisex name since I don't know the gender. Is this odd or should I just let it go and not name him or her?

No not at all. I miscarried our first child very early in my pregnancy and still mourn the loss of that baby. I think if naming the baby helps you, then you should do it. I know someday,I will see my baby in Heaven but until then I do have a void in my life missing him/her. I went on to have three healthy children, but I always feel like someone in our family is missing.
I will pray for you!!

It's not weird. It was a living being you carried for a short while.
I had a friend who had a miscarriage and didn't know the gender. She named her baby Angel.
It's very endearing and it makes sense to name the baby if you plan on having more kids. If they find out, they may ask you about it and it would be very odd to them if you didn't care enough about it to name the baby.
Sorry about your loss. God bless!

I say depending on how you feel about the situation, name him/her if you would like to. Some people do not want to remember a miscarriage, but if you were pretty far along, then it would be hard to forget. Whatever you feel is best for you and your family is the way to go. It sounds like you might want to remember your baby, so I would say a unisex name would be fine. I'm sorry for your loss.

First off -- Im so sorry for your loss, I also miscarried twice before this pregnancy (now 28 weeks). Although I didnt name the two that I had lost, I dont think its weird or anything -- you do what makes you feel comfortable.

It's definitely not odd. Many people do it, plus giving it a name may help you come to terms with it. Everyone has to grieve, there is no right or wrong way, so name away!

No, it's not weird.
I had a miscarriage 13 years ago and I had a feeling it was a girl so I named her Emelie. It's pronounced the same way as Emily, just spelled differently.

When I loct a child, I felt in my heart it was a girl and I named her Jessica. It made me feel a little better. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If it helps you grieve. I wish you the best and pray you don't go through this again. I know it is hard. Good luck to you.

You should do whatever will help you heal thru this process. If naming the baby makes it easier for you then you should go right ahead. I am sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is and what helped me thru it was a lot of crying.

No, not at all. The fact that you are grieving tells me that you valued the life inside you and feel a terrible loss.

Trust that there was a greater purpose to what happened. God bless you.

I don't think it,s weird I lost twin boys at 5 months and even though I didn't name them I bought 2 cherubs that look the same as twins to keep them for my keepsake. Everyone
grieves in their own way.
