I am a nurssing student and the normal textbook blood pressure is 120 over 80. Other variations can be normal but I would only be concerned if the systolic (upper number) is higher than 160 or the diastolic (lower number) is above 90. Or on the opposite, if the upper number is lower than 90 and the lower number lower than 60. Otherwise, everyones blood pressure is different and some run normally higher and some normally lower. happy health, Elizabeth

There are new guide lines for BP. If it is 120/80 and under, it is good. No longer does the old saying 100 plus your age work.
Also Hypertension( the medical term for high blood pressure) is not caused by by being hyper or tense.
Don't forget that activity, anger, some medications can make your BP rise. Activity and anger and some meds only make BP high for the duration of the activity. Check with your MD if you think it is high. And take your medication.
To naturally reduce your BP, eat less salt and eat more fruits and veggies. Reduce your red meat and fat intake. This is in addition to taking BP meds
High blood pressure is called the silent killer because most people can't tell if their BP is high until they are taken into the ER with a stroke or heart attack.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

80/120
Any thing below 80 is considered low blood pressure
Any thing above the 120 is considered "High blood pressure"
Of course 1 point or 2 points either way is taken almost as normal.

everbody's norm is differs. My norm is 128/85. However I work with a lady that has a bp of 95/65 and that is her norm. She is in her late 40's So I guess the general norm is 120/80. I'm going to assume since your older it should be less.
