Yeah...the most successful war ever is this war in which the president has no idea what to do anymore meanwhile new terrorists form by the 100's on a daily basis. Sure...

Considering the length of the actual war, and the outcome (we won, a dictator was overthrown) it might be a possibility, especially if you are just talking about the War. If you look at the overall picture, though, the book is still open, as the rebuilding period is still going on. Considering the fact that the whole thing has still been going on only three years (compare to Vietnam which spanned three decades [I think, little hazy there, I was not around then]), things can still get cleaned up there relatively soon.
So yeah, the war was pretty successful, but history will show what happens in the overall picture.

Yeah I have to disagree with that. Our presence has largely helped to destabilize a region and throw the local sects and tribes into sectarian violence with each other. True, that is nothing new, but we are certainly not helping the situation. We went into this war on false intelligence and a then shady, now disproved link to Al Qaeda terrorism. With the possibility of 650,000 Iraqi casualties, how have we helped these people do anything?
I'm curious- what makes you say its a successful war?
Okay heres a bit of an add-on. Sort of based on what my Geography teacher said I think her prediction is coming true.
We have four major factions in this war- Al Qaeda, which is dedicated to a fundamentalist Islamic state and the ousting the the US Regime, which it ties to Israel. There are the Sunnis and the Shi'ah, which both translate the Qur'an differently. And then you have the Kurds, the largest ethnic group in the world without their own nation.
So the war has started sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shi'ites, with al Qaeda largely fueling the conflict. Both Sunnis and Shi'ah feel they should rule the country. The Kurds want their own country.
So what could happen because of our interference is this- Iraq undergoes a civil war, forcing the UN to partition Iraq into three separate states- a Shi'ah Iraq, a Sunni Iraq and a Kurdistan. A Shi'ah Iraq could turn to Iran and grow closer ties there, giving Iran strength. Meanwhile, a Sunni Iraq would have more in common with the Baathists in Syria. A Kurdistan would be quickly invaded by Turkey, which has declared it will never allow a Kurdistan because they are afraid that its existence would inspire Kurds in Turkey to revolt.
Soooo... who are we helping here?

Did you overdose on Jim Jones cool aid? Your kidding right? Iraq is on the verge of a civil war, if they aren't already in it , and you call that a success? It it wasn't for FDR and Churchill, we'd most likely be speaking German today. WW II was our most successful war by far.Terrorism has risen 300% since Bush invaded Iraq and you want to call that a success? Unbelievable.

If the intent was to divide the country and have civil war descend upon it, then yes, I would have to agree and say it was successful. If 'to bring democracy' to the Iraqis was the lofty goal, then I would have to disagree.

I don't think it's fair to compare wars. All are different, with varied consequences. Our objective in Iraq was to overthrow Saddam and get rid of WMDs. Well, we did that, and we're still there, and can't seem to get out soon. So how can you say it has been a big success, if we acheived our objectives, and then got stuck there?

how are you defining success? how is our nation any better off? i fail to see that for all the money we've spent, that we've gotten any return on our investment
the region is less stable that it was prior to the invasion, the oil market is more volatile, the cost of the war is over whelming, and on and on
i think it was a total and complete disaster with no real end in sight

Depends on how you define war, but militarily, that's probably true. Problem is once we toppled their gov't, slaughtered their army, and decimated their infrastructure, we lost the plot completely.
We do fine at making war, we just stink at making peace...
