you should just buy brown polish, its a much better mess free way

You can mix it with red. You can also mix it with yellow although it may make a lighter brown than you want. Add the black a few drops at a time so that you don't over power the other color.

Well I would do the opposite b/c black is such a over powering color and is very strong (same as black hair die, it cover up everything right? so the same with nail polish) mix a little black with a red. Get a dark red polish and add just a little bit of black to it.

red. Depending on what kind of finish you want, you can mix in different reds, the glossier the red, the glossier your brown will be.
Try to mix 2 with close to the same consistancy, if you find they do not want to blend well, you can add a SINGLE DROP at a time of nail polisf remover.

Try a real red or orange. Colors like that may work. The Cool colors like Blue green and purple probably wouldn't work.

Real dark brown and a hint of black...otherwise, all you'll get is pitch black color

it may. It only relies upon. i'm certainly easy, have blue eyes, freckles, and that i develop into born with dark brown hair. i does no longer dye it very practically black. i could bypass at maximum 2 hues darker except you opt to look washed out with great dark hair.
