I tried to get tickets to game 1 in Deroit and they were sold out with 20 mins. Ebay and the rest of the world now has tickets ranging from $500 - $12000.

Many of the ones posted by true scalpers or scalping companies they might not even have yet. They post get a price then try to find tickets to match by contacting season ticket holders, sponsors, etc.

Scalpers/Ticket agencies get their tickets a number of ways. They buy them from season ticket holders, they purchase corporate/private seats from individuals, and they work the ticket lines like you and I do. The difference is that they have many people calling/logging on for them, so they have a far better shot of scoring tickets than do you.

To me, purchasing those tickets is like a lottery. You hope you're a winner, but if not, you're out of luck unless you're willing to shell out the dollars.
