It actually probably would be cheaper to film in Miami, but most of the actors wouldn't want to live there (you know how celebs are...LA and California is equated with Heaven). Also, though, it's just more practical to film in LA since most of the writers, production, and other studio stuff is already there.

they film CSI Miami often here in Long Beach where I live ..
