If there are no lunch breaks, etc, you divide 8 by 2/3.

well, you gotta figure in lunch and smoke breaks, and usually they sit around drinking coffee the first half hour or so, and then you gotta clean up at the end of the day and put tools away and stuff, so id say that maybe 7 or 8 cars could get done. If they worked straight thru using the 40min/car number you gave, then it would be solved by multiplying 8by60 for the 480 minutes in the work day, and divideby40 to get 12 cars for your answer.

2/3 of a hour is 2/3 of 60min, i.e.,

60 * 2/3 = 40minutes

It takes 40minutes to lube 1 car.

8hrs has 8*60min = 480min

Number of cars that can be lubed in 480min are:

480/40 = 12
