Depends where in London you want to go. Go to:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk
There you can pretty much type in anything and it will tell you how you can get there and back, how many times you'll have to change trains, and how long it should take. If you go into the "Book this journey" (something like that) you can get pricing information.

Hi it will cost about £15 return, it would be cheaper if you get your ticket after 9.30 but you might have to change at Rochester or Strood to go to London bridge or Charing cross

Try www.railtrack.co.uk

You need to specify the journey time and then buy tickets option - this will give available fares for the times you have requested.
