To say numbers between twenty and sixty-nine in French, you form the number much as in English. "forty six" is just the word for "forty" (quarante) together with the word for "six" (six), so it's "quarante six". "Twenty four" is "vingt quatre", "thirty eight" is "trente huit", and "fifty nine" is "cinquante neuf".

Above 69 strange things happen. "Seventy" is "soixante dix" or "sixty ten", 71 is "soixante et onze" (60 + 11), 72 is "soixante deuze" (60 + 12) etc. up to 79 (soixante dix neuf). "Eighty" is "quatre vingt" (four twenties), 81 is "quatre vingt et un" (4*20 + 1), and so on up to 99 ("quatre vingt dix neuf).
