Now that I can afford to go somewhere warm for a holiday once a year. The go hug a tree nut-jobs think that I shouldnt be able to afford it. If evereyone with a car were to swap them for horses and carts what would the methane emmissions be like? I know that the world needs protecting but come on lets be reasonable about this instead of making me pay more to fly because in 20 years time lets enjoy this newfound freedom with moderation.

I don't even think that the world needs protecting, it's been getting along just fine for billions of years without us. The tree huggers have created a near perfect control mechanism by thinking up global warming, because it is almost impossible to disprove their claims. I think that they are anti-capitalists in disguise. They seem to be devoid of more pressing things in their life to deal with, and treat the Earth like a pseudo lover. If a super volcano erupted (Yellowstone Park is due), then the earth would blow us all to kingdom come, tree huggers with it, and say, "whats that funny smell of burning". They are on solid ground, however, regarding pollution of the soil, water and air. That is quite valid and real. How, for example, do the tree huggers explain rising sea levels, when, under the law of displacement, an ice cube that melts in a glass leaves the liquid level unchanged. The ice cube having previously displaced it's own weight in water. The same rule applies to ice-burgs. Under-sea methane emissions are immense, as are the toxins pushed out by volcanic activity. The earth has always dealt with these. Also, the more CO'2 that is pushed out, the more that plants thrive because they take it in, and then in turn they churn out more oxygen.

I like and enjoy cheap transportation and until someone else comes up with better ways to travel I'd prefer if they didn't just use green issues as an excuse for MORE BLOODY TAX.

I'd like a holiday some time this millenium - and I am not planning on walking there. There's having regard for the environment (which I do) but there's also having regard for the economy and for our democratic freedoms (which they don't)

And how are Greenpeace stopping you? The last time I checked, Greenpeace were not blockading airports! And since when did Greenpeace decide the price of oil?

If everyone was to drive electric cars, charged by solar power and wind turbines then there would be less demand for oil and the price of fuel for aircraft would be lower.

If you want to blame anyone for the cost of your flights then blame OPEC and the unchecked corporate greed of the oil companies.
