My turtle has swollen eyes, loose skin, and sometimes a wet nose, but he has still been eating and running around like usual. Is he sick? can I help him without finding a vet?
PS: I know I have a lot of questions but I want my turtles to live for a long time.

I think you need a vet. Tortoises are slow to show symptoms of illness, and slow to respond to treatment.
You need to get in and find out what's going on and start the correct treatment. You can do just as much harm if you don't treat it correctly as if you do nothing.
Swollen eyes usually means bacterial infection, but it's the runny nose that is the most worrysome. Tortoises get Pneumonia very easily and die quickly of it.
Loose skin may mean a parasite.
It could be any or none of these, only a vet can tell you.
Go soon.
Good luck.

What kind of turtle? Swollen eyes and runny nose are signs of a respiratory infection and these can be quite troubling to the turtle.

They also usually indicate a flaw in our basic cares- dirty water, too cool temps, bad lighting, small tank, high stress, etc.

Try http://www.austinsturtlepage.com to find medical and care info for many kinds of turtles.
