Not sure, but if your referring to the contest where Brody, Hooper and Quint are referring to old wounds, the sherriff has an appendix scar he keeps touching at. Hooper at one point, points to a broken heart and Quint points to a scar on his side from a bayonette

They're comparing scars. Hooper and Quint have real scars from major seagoing accidents like shark bites. All Brody's got is a little appendectomy scar and he's embarrassed because he can't share manly scar stories.

I believe it is where he had his appendix taken out.
