Football is more publicized BECAUSE it is more popular. Also, there are fewer games in football, which is limited to 12-13 games. It is not unusual for college baseball teams, especially those in warm-weather areas, to play 50-60 (or more ?) games in a season.

It depends on the area. If you go to Kentucky, basketball is bigger then football. But in general it is a more popular sport with more money put into it.
